White Canvas Design Agency Nominated for YWCA BC Outstanding Workplace Award

White Canvas Design Agency Nominated for YWCA BC Outstanding Workplace Award

We’re honoured to share that we have been nominated for the 2026 Outstanding Workplace award by YWCA BC Women of Distinction Awards, presented by Scotiabank.

This nomination feels especially meaningful because of what the award represents. It recognizes organizations that are intentionally creating environments where people are supported not just professionally, but personally, with space to grow across career, family, and community.

Carly Moir, our CEO & Founder, put into words what this moment means for White Canvas:

“After 14 years of building White Canvas, creating a strong team culture and leading a women-led business has truly become my life’s work. I’m so proud of our team. I’ve always believed a leader is only as strong as the other leaders they build, and this recognition is something we all share.”

At its core, this nomination reflects the kind of team culture we’ve always aimed to build:

  • Leadership at every level
  • Open, honest communication
  • Creative freedom and trust
  • Growth beyond job titles
  • Inclusive real support for life inside and outside of work

About the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards

For over 40 years, the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards have recognized individuals and organizations advancing gender equity and building inclusive, supportive communities where people can grow both at work and beyond.

The Outstanding Workplace category recognizes organizations that have built intentional, people-first cultures that support the diverse needs of their teams, encouraging balance across career, family, community, and personal growth, while actively addressing barriers and advancing the success of women in the workplace.

For us, that shows up in tangible ways. A 100% women-led creative team, with internal mentorship and leadership development, equitable pay practices, and access to external coaching. A workplace designed around real life, with a dog-friendly, kid-friendly studio, an annual wellness fund, company-wide rest days, and time off to celebrate birthdays.

It also reflects how we operate more broadly. Transparent hiring, full-time local employment, community partnerships, and ongoing work in Truth and Reconciliation through client collaboration, education, and a continued commitment to strengthening Indigenous-inclusive communication practices. Alongside this, we look for ways to give back through our work, supporting local organizations, contributing our time, creative skills, and donated expertise, and investing over $40,000 each year into community initiatives, practicum training, and volunteer support.

Winners will be announced at the Women of Distinction Awards gala on May 7, 2026. In the meantime, nominees are being recognized throughout the spring, with opportunities to connect, participate in community voting, and be reviewed by a diverse selection panel.

Building What Matters

At White Canvas, we believe in building with clarity and purpose, not just for our clients, but within our team. We foster a culture grounded in empowered leadership, curiosity, authenticity, and adaptability. It’s a place where people feel trusted, supported, and able to grow. This nomination reflects our team, who show up every day with care, creativity, and a shared commitment to meaningful work.

To be recognized by YWCA within this category is a reflection of these ongoing efforts, and something we’re truly grateful for. Thank you again to YWCA for this nomination. We’re incredibly grateful.
